Marfeed NAOX

Marfeed NAOX is a natural antioxidant, developed to alleviate oxidative stress in aquatic species and reduce oxidation of feed. NAOX enhances the welfare of aquatic farmed species and their end-quality. NAOX also improves the shelf-life of both feed and fish as refrigerated products, therefore reducing reliance on synthetic antioxidants .

Oxidation is a natural biochemical process normally kept in balance by antioxidants. During times of stress, rapid growth, or reduced presence of antioxidants however, oxidation can become excessive and lead to oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can lead to cell and tissue damage and may be related to a reduction in animal welfare and quality measures, such as reduced coloration, muscle gaping, and the presence of melanin spots. Oxidation is also responsible for feed rancidity and can further contribute to oxidative stress in animals.

Marfeed have developed methods for identifying and quantifying antioxidant activity at each stage of the production process; from raw materials to fish tissues. This unique knowledge has enabled us to develop the blend of active biomolecules in Marfeed NAOX that reduces oxidation in both fish and feed.
